As a new generation of women are taking the art world by storm, Sola Journal calls to celebrate and redefine womanhood. ‘and still rise’ is Sola Journal's second collaborative zine, bringing together 53 artists from across the world to reflect on what it means to be a woman. By giving these women a voice that has been repressed throughout history, we reclaim our past. Through the use of photography, the female gaze is redefined and re-contextualised. By mapping our bodies and our lives through the photographic medium, we become a force against shifting laws, gender roles and rights.
